Congenital malformations associated with a ring 4 chromosome.

چکیده
Ring chromosomes in man have been described not only as interesting phenomena associated with irradiation and neoplasia (Levan, 1956; Tough et al., 1960; Bender and Gooch, 1962; Jensen, 1966) but also as a probable cause of congenital malformations (Palmer, Fareed, and Merritt, 1967). In the cases of congenital malformations so far ascribed to ring chromosomes, the B group has been involved only once. However, the chromosome from which the ring was formed was thought to be a No. 5 (Rohde and Tompkins., 1965), and a ring 4 chromosome has not been reported. The purpose of this paper is to describe a congenitally malformed infant with a ring chromosome of the B group which we consider to be a No. 4.

متن کاملRing Chromosome 18: A Case Report
Ring chromosomes are rare chromosomal disorders that usually appear to occur de novo. A ring chromosome forms when due to deletion both ends of chromosome fuse with each other. Depending on the amount of chromosomal deletion, the clinical manifestations may be different. So, ring 18 syndrome is characterized by severe mental growth retardation as well as microcephaly, brain and ocular malformat...

Chromosome alterations, including numerical and structural chromosome rearrangements, are implicated in abnormal fetal development and congenital malformations. At least 50% of all first trimester spontaneous abortions are cytogenetically abnormal and about 6% of all postnatal congenital malformations are related to visible cytogenetic alterations detected by conventional G banding. 2 These per...
متن کاملO-26: Comparison of Congenital Malformation of Infants Conceived by Assisted Reproductive Techniques versus Infants with Natural Conception in Tehran
Background: In many countries, 1% to 3% of newborn infants are conceived by Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART). Despite the success of ART, there is concern about the risk of congenital malformations among these infants. We report our experience to determine whether use of ART is associated with an increase in major congenital malformations or adverse pregnancy outcomes Materials and Method...
